Designed as an “all-in-one” product, HCnet® can be used by HL7 professionals and developers
as a tool for testing, parsing, and converting HL7 streams to HL7 files or vice versa, as
well as for other pre-production purposes.
The installation process is simple for fast and easy implementation. HCnet® can be used with
an existent Microsoft SQL Server or, if one is not available, with Microsoft SQL Server Express.
Simply run the HCnet® installer and it will guide you through creating a default installation on
a single computer. Once you open the Management Console, follow the “Getting Started” guide to
test your interface using the included sample HL7 files and processing scripts.
The full implementation cycle consists of the following sequence:
- Configure TEST connectors
- Use processing script templates or create your own
- “Drop” test messages for processing
- Review the results, making script adjustments if necessary
- Configure and activate production connectors

The distributed architecture of HCnet® offers advantages in specific cases of load balancing for top
performance, utilizing existent server infrastructure, and maintenance considerations.
There are two license types available for the product: Developer and Production. A Production license
is required for production deployments. A Developer license is used for development and test environments.
A Developer license requires user interaction after processing a large number of messages.
It has no other functional limitations. This approach enables full functionality and testing capabilities
without any trial period restrictions.
